Coming in at # 10

The Donner DAG-1C is a deal you just can't beat...a setup like this for the money is ridiculous. Under $160 delivered and it has everything......tuner, case, strap, capo etc.....plus it plays and sounds nice. Can't go wrong with this setup if you are just starting out.

Just a note....I do recommend with the lower-end starter guitars, have a teacher or player take a look at the action and check for "dead frets"...it just happens with the quality control on some of the instruments in the super low price points.

Alright...#9 is the Epiphone Songmaker DR-100 Acoustic Guitar...I was impressed with the volume of the dreadnought-sized body and the one I played was set up quite well. If you’re looking for an excellent starter and value, then this Epi is definitely worth checking out. I remember these being under $200 as well. And again, the links are below.

Okay...#8 is the Yamaha FG800...This Guitar is a great example of the classic acoustic. Light and balanced, comfortable to play standing up. Great tone, volume, and acoustics. I think you'll be very impressed. I believe they were $219.

#7 is the Ibanez Artwood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Cutaway, model AW54CE to be exact. Ibanez always offers a vast array of models. This guitar has remarkable projection both plugged in and unplugged. Did I mention great action too? It just felt great to play and under $350, this model gets high marks.

#6 The Martin LX1E is an amazing guitar that produces an incredibly balanced tone. The bass response of this acoustic is stellar, without compromising on the higher notes. Some call these travelers but don't let the size fool you. They are serious instruments and still under $500.

And just to note, a few of the models, like the Ibanez and this next one, have a built-in pickup but were not what I based my rankings on. I am judging their playability, sound, and price point as acoustics...Anyway...

#5 is the Ovation CE44. Ovation has made these for over 50 years and you can tell. This one features their patented Comfort curved back, has a great neck and excellent action. For those that might have learned on an electric and moving to an acoustic, ovations have always been a favorite.

Alright, #4 is the Ibanez Artwood AVD9 Guitar. The action was excellent, a great neck but it was the sound of that top that really impressed me. They call it a Thermo Aged top, but whatever it is, I loved it. And still under $500 from what I saw.

Okay, next is #3 and that's the Yamaha FG840 - I was impressed with the volume and tone. This model has a beautiful, solid top, maple back, and sides. For decades, Yamaha has made great guitars, kind of under the radar, but players know it.

#2 is the Seagull S6 Original. If you haven't heard of Seagulls, you must try one. Seagulls just do not feel or play like lower-priced acoustic guitars. This model has an amazing tone. And every time I play one, I want one. These guys just don't cut corners.

And it was close to overtaking my number #1 but this year I am going with the Guild Jumbo Jr Reserve. It's got gorgeous flamed maple back & sides, mother-of-pearl block inlays, warm tone, and surprising volume. This year the guild unseats my 2-time champion, the Taylor Academy, and that's because inflation has driven that baby into the high $6s.

So, i hope this all helps and remember...if you are thinking of buying soon, click the down arrow...i have links to all of these GUITARS for you to do your research.
